Parks with Hiking/Walking Trails

Old Baldy Mountain Park, in Electoral Area B, is currently within management planning phases. The project goal is to ensure Old Baldy Mountain Park continues to be a vibrant and well-loved community outdoor recreational destination, and planning park improvements that will serve to meet the needs of the present and future generations.

Project objectives include engaging with the community and local First Nations to consider potential park elements that will increase outdoor recreational opportunities and provide a variety of park experiences while preserving and enhancing the natural beauty, ecological health, function, and benefit of the park.

The Management Plan is intended to establish an appropriate spatial arrangement for future park uses and establish a guiding vision for cost-effective park development over the next 10-15 years. The consultant team is expected to engage with the community to identify priorities and develop a concept plan that can be used to provide guidance for future investment in the park inclusive of trails and other park amenities that support public use as established in the Park Management Plan.

The timeline target for bringing forward for adoption of a Park Management Plan for Old Baldy Mountain Park by the Cowichan Valley Regional District Board is Fall of 2024.
