Emergency Alert Registration

Thank you for registering for the CVRD Emergency Alert System!

Please note that you can request to be removed at any time by emailing ealert@cvrd.bc.ca. We hope to send out two test messages per year to ensure that the system works properly. 
  
  • Emergency Preparedness Week in May to encourage emergency preparedness
  • Fire Prevention Week in October to highlight fire prevention

Emergency information may include:

  • Evacuation Routes
  • Alerts and Orders
  • available/open ESS Reception Centres
  • Re-entry information once it is safe to return to the affected area
Emergency Public Information Resources 
  • Radio - 89.7 JUICE FM is our primary local emergency information media (keep a battery, wind-up and/or solar powered radio easily accessible).
  • Community Radio - 98.7 CICV FM is the primary local emergency information media for the Cowichan Lake area.
  • When the Internet is available, vital information will be updated regularly on the CVRD website and the Emergency Management icon will flash red to emphasize activation.
  • Inquiry Centre - toll free number may be issued during a time of major disaster.
  • Canadian Red Cross - Help finding loved ones in the disaster area (family reunification).
  • Marquee signs around the community (like the one at the Island Savings Centre and Thrifty Foods) may provide emergency information.
  • Emergency Management BC provides regular provincial updates at EmergencyInfoBC
