What We Do
In the Province of British Columbia regional districts and municipalities are required to plan and respond to emergencies in their area. The CVRD has a Regional Emergency Program that includes nine electoral areas, four municipalities and works collaboratively with eight first nations. Our focus is emergency management and our goal is to lead the communities throughout the Cowichan region to prepare, respond, recover and mitigate, for emergency or disaster situations.
Public Safety is our Priority
We plan and prepare before it happens - Training, Exercises & Public Education
We respond when it happens - Coordinate Response in CVRD
We help with recovery after it happens - Coordinate Community Recovery
We help to reduce risks before it happens again - Assess Hazards, Risks & Impacts, and Reduce Risks Where/When Possible
