Regional Recreation Planning

The Regional Recreation Strategic Plan

The Cowichan Valley Regional District (CVRD), in partnership with its member municipalities, has undertaken a recreation planning project for the past two years. The phased approach has involved an initial public engagement and needs assessment, collection of facility user data, exploration of regional funding options and development of a regional recreation strategy.

We have now completed a draft Regional Recreation Strategic Plan, which aims to provide strategic direction across a number of important areas, including:

  • Opportunities for service delivery enhancement
  • Potential areas of increased efficiency
  • Strategies to address emergent demands, trends, and identified service gaps.
The CVRD and its partners are now seeking feedback from residents on the plan to ensure it reflects the vision, values and priorities of our communities. Explanatory display panels and a Summary Report will be posted in recreation facilities across the region between April 26 and May 23, with the ability to leave comments. Residents are also encouraged to visit the Regional Recreation Strategy topic page on PlaceSpeak and provide feedback.
