CVRD Proposed Soil Deposit Bylaw

The CVRD has developed a bylaw to manage the deposit of soil in the Regional District's Electoral Areas.  This Bylaw establishes a permitting process for the deposit of soil, and is intended to prevent damage to streams and other environmentally sensitive features, the unauthorized importation of contaminated soil, and damage to agricultural land and drainage systems, among other things.

Soil Deposit Bylaw No.4236 was adopted by the Board April 24, 2019 and is now in effect throughout all CVRD electoral areas. Sites depositing less than 1000m3 in a calendar year requiring a Type 'A' or Type 'B' permit will not require a permit until June 1, 2020. Sites depositing 1000m3 or more in a calendar year will require a Type 'C' permit. Sites accepting soil prior to April 24, 2019 may refer to the Soil Deposit Bylaw Enforcement Grace Period Policy.
