Plan Your Event

Our CVRD Community Services Department is focused on getting back to a “new normal" and restart our Recreation facilities to help you get back to being active, healthy and connected to your community in a safe manner.

Prior to attending a CVRD recreation facility, please take the time to review the latest information about COVID-19 safety plans and program guidelines that are applicable to you or your sport.

viaSport has provided a set of guidelines and sport-specific ’return to sport’ plans for operating safely during the pandemic.

Cowichan Rugby

A successful sporting event – like a winning team – needs a magic mix of talent and support to make it happen.

Cowichan’s commitment to sports is evident in the number, quality and variety of facilities throughout the communities of Ladysmith, Chemainus, Duncan, Lake Cowichan and South Cowichan. More than  50 options include modern, state of the art sports centres, playing fields maintained to international standards, impressive facilities at the area’s private schools, plus numerous outdoor spaces for rowing and other water sports.

Just as a coach knows the rulebook, Cowichan knows the event playbook inside out, so we can help you put all the elements together.

We have a proud track record of hosting successful events such as the 1991 BC Winter Games and the 2005 BC Seniors Games. The 2008 North American Indigenous Games had 4200 participants competing in 14 sports, ably assisted by 2500 volunteers.

In July of 2018, the BC Summer Games were held in Cowichan. More than 2000 volunteers provided an exceptional experience for more than 2300 athletes who competed in 18 sports at 27 venues throughout the region.

You know your sport, and we know our communities. Let us help you put both together so your sport event is the best ever.
