The CVRD assumed responsibility for the Lambourn Estates Sewer system on September 1, 2008. The system consists of a gravity collection system, with a small number of homes on a septic tank effluent pump (STEP) system discharging to the sewer.
A new membrane bioreactor (MBR) treatment plant and a Salsnes pre-screen filter replaced the old treatment plant in June 2010, with funds provided by developers, Federal Gas Tax Funding and MFA borrowing. A very high quality Class A effluent discharges into Cowichan Bay, through a 200 millimetre diameter outfall that has been extended 410 metres for a total length of 530 metres.
There are 129 properties and 47 modular homes in the sewer service area.
