The CVRD operated Cherry Point Estates Water System is located at the end of Kingscote Road, and borders the shoreline of Satellite Channel just south of Cowichan Bay. The water system was established in 1995 and serves 30 single-family dwellings.
Source and Treatment
Water from the system is supplied from a groundwater well and requires treatment by a sequestering agent for the reduction of iron and manganese. The raw water also receives chlorine disinfection before being pumped up to the 50,000-gallon, steel-bolted, above-grade reservoir. The distribution is gravity-fed from the reservoir on demand.
As part of the maintenance program for the water system, the distribution system is flushed on an annual basis, usually in the spring, and the hydrants and valves are regularly maintained.
The annual Parcel Tax rate is $675 and the discounted monthly user fee is $28.50.
