The Cowichan Valley Regional District prepared the 2017 parcel tax roll for the purpose of levying parcel taxes and letters were sent to the property owners who were being assessed a parcel tax for the first time in the above noted service areas.

Owners of properties located in these service areas were able to view the roll at the Regional District office in Duncan.  The purpose of the parcel tax roll review was to ensure information was correct for billing property taxes for 2017.  A property owner’s correct name and address is critical information for billing property taxes.

Property owners may have requested a correction to the parcel tax roll for their own property and only for the following reasons:

  1. there was an error or omission on a name or address on the parcel tax roll;
  2. there was an error or omission on the inclusion of a parcel;
  3. there was an error or omission on the taxable area or the taxable frontage or parcel;
  4. an exemption had been improperly allowed or disallowed.

Parcel tax rolls were available for inspection at the Cowichan Valley Regional District Office, 175 Ingram Street, Duncan BC, Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., starting February 14, 2017.

For a correction request to have been considered by the panel, it must have been in writing and received by 8 a.m. PST on February 27, 2017.
